You Think THIS Year's Draft Is Bad?
Wait until next year (if they impose an age limit)! Hakim Warrick and Charlie Villanueva could jump from the 12 - 15 range to being the top two picks next year. You do NOT want a high first rounder next year if this age limit thing happens.
Expect this to be discussed over the next collective bargaining agreement, along with the potential for a minor league to be spawned out of the thus-far ineffective NBDL.
The drafting and developing of new talent seems like one of the biggest issues on the horizon for the league. Throw in the fact that David Stern wants a limit on the length of players contracts (call it the Vin Baker effect) and you have a building gap between where the union and ownership will be come negotiating time.
