Gandalf, Harry Potter, and other Wizards
I like what the Wizards have been able to pull of thus far. Jamison will be a very good 3/4 man for Eddie Jordan's offense. Dumping the two worst salaries is a great step too. Now if they just can avoid screwing everything up, they should show improvement. How could they screw things up? Try this on for size:
"In anticipation of getting Francis from Houston, the Magic also have talked to the Washington Wizards about a deal involving point guard Gilbert Arenas and former No. 1 pick Kwame Brown." - Orlando Sentinel
Now I realize that Francis is a local kid, and he's got star quality that would sell tickets. But unless you believe that Brown is a total and complete bust (I don't), you don't do this deal. I'm of the opinion that even tho he's a strange cat, Gilbert can score as well as Francis can. Neither is a playmaker point guard. Both hog the ball a bit much. You are trading for the same (shorter) player and also giving up on a guy that could still be the next Jermaine O'Neal.
Here's hoping that the Wizards have enough brains to quit while they are ahead.
