Red Sox - Yankees "Rivalry"
Red Sox beat the Yanks for the second time in a row! Pedro got roughed up a little in the first, but then so did Rivera in the 8th. Who'd have thought that Shea Hillenbrand would have the biggest Sox bat so far this year? Got to love this Sox/Yanks rivalry.
Then again, the term "rivalry" is a bit of a misnomer. Its a little more like the relationship between a 250 lb. teenager and his bratty little brother. The brat might get a whack in there once in a while just to piss him off, but the older brother knows he's just gonna pound him again. The analogy breaks down a bit when you consider the fact that brothers would, in their hearts, really love each other. Any longtime fan of either team has no love whatsoever for the other team.
But as a bitter, self-depricating, Red Sox fan, I root on, and wait for them to break my heart again. Then again, if the Pats can do it...
Here are a couple of articles on the subject:
From the Globe Its been great theatre
From ESPN Peter Gammons LOVE'S the Red Sox
